Technology Student Association is a program dedicated to providing leadership growth and development for its members. Any willing student has the opportunity to sharpen their skills and participate in various events to further explore and strengthen their roles as a leader. So far, we have either attended or plan to attend these events: monthly business meetings, CORE 2024, Tech Day 2024, FLC 2024, SLC 2025, and Nationals 2025. Students are awarded certificates and pins for participation in local, state, and national events.
Our TSA chapter hold monthly meetings . These meetings take place after school on the second Tuesday of the month. Prior to these, the officers meet before the event to work on the agenda and the presentation slides.
Small group meetings are held weeks prior to the competitive events. These are led by student leaders.
Five of our officers and our robotics captain were able to attend CORE 2024. During this conference we completed our Chapter Annual Plan (formerly POW). Four of our officers received the statesman award as well. We had a blast as they learned take-away activities for chapter meetings and officer responsibilities.
Our competing students traveled to the Georgia Fairgrounds in Perry, GA. Our students created various projects to compete in the events offered at the Tech Day Competition. These events included Gravity Car, Conceptual Design, Robotics Challenge, Architectural Design, Alternative Energy, and Program Promotion. Our chapter placed top ten in two events. We placed 3rd in Program Promotion, 6th in Conceptual Design, and 8th in Structural Design.
Eleven of our members participated at Fall Leadership Conference. Our robotics team competed in the first qualifier. The participants attended the leadership and technical sessions to prepare themselves for state competition. Six of our members passed the Statesman Test which was administered before the conference.
For the year 2024, our chapter placed in the following events
This year, 14 of our members will compete in various events at the state level.
Our robotics team competed during the Fall Leadership Conference. They also competed in the Vex Millex Border Brawl in Fitzgerald, GA, where we received the Sportsmanship Award. This team is run mainly by the student leaders with minimal supervision from our advisor. We are currently training freshmen who can hold the baton when our upperclassmen leave the high school.
Members of the the organization are given the opportunity to build communication and presentation skills while serving as TSA representatives.
This year, we had industry representatives visit our engineering classroom/laboratory and our officers had the opportunity to welcome them and to provide information about our program. We are expecting a few more visits this school year.
Our members also provided assistance during events that are held in the campus such as Junior Leadership Jones, mock interviews, and Senior Pathway Recognition. We also give presentations during the bi-annual Engineering Advisory Committee meetings.
Our student members are provided the opportunity to share their experiences with TSA during the Fall and Spring Engineering and Technology Advisory Committee sessions. Members will present their experiences and skills learned for each course in the pathway and TSA.
This section includes documentation for TSA monthly meetings (attendance sheets and minutes of meeting) and minutes of meeting for the Engineering Advisory Committee
